my favorite song ever to run to is "Lose Yourself" by Eminem. Its totally motivating. At one point he says:

Success is my only mother%$#ing option, failure's not
Feet fail me not cause this maybe the only opportunity that I got

anyway, it motivates me. And I like the swear, cause I'm usually feeling angry and sweary when I'm running.

Those seem like some pretty good methods. I miss running and am really excited to get back into it. For some reason short runs are the worst for me, even though I know they will be over soon. I do think it is important to map out your journey. My other extremely nerdy method is to pretend that someone is videotaping my run for a documentary or something (LOL)... then I imagine up all the motivational remarks and commentary I would make to encourage others to run and feel as though walking or giving up would make all of my motivational comments to others seem irrelevant (even though I secretly know we could just edit that portion of the film).

Whatever works right ;)

it's good to know that people who can run well also struggle with the inner voice. I usually only run for 30 minutes at a time but I'm looking to increase it. I'm scared because mentally it's hard for me to run for longer than that! I only recently realized how much of running is mental strength.

Love this post! (glad I recommended it ;) )
