Black Friday is the blackest day of the year

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I will not be shopping on Black Friday. I will be silently protesting by staying home and stuffing my face full of left over pie. This is 10 years of retail talking. When I started out in retail Black Friday started at 10 am (maybe 9 am) and went to 10 pm. [...]

mantra for the day

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I can’t expect perfection from others and expect them to give me leeway to be imperfect. (duh)

This has been my mantra today.
I got so irritated with so many people today because with my limited view they seemed like idiots.
Really they are not idiots and the world does not revolve around me.

Amazingly enough.

Where to [...]

my Thanksgiving post

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

“Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow [...]

oh wonderful chocolate!

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Enjoy these great chocolate quotes:
“What you see before you, my friend, is the result of a lifetime of chocolate.” – Katherine Hepburn
“There’s nothing better than a good friend, except a good friend with chocolate.” – Linda Grayson
“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” – Charles M. Schulz

sick, run, music

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Eva has an ear infection. It is so sad to see her sick. She only wants me (which is not like her). Last night for about a half hour she just cried and cried. Nothing consoles her, it is awful. It may not be linked to the H1N1 shot who [...]

swine flu vaccine – crapshoot or not??

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

The biggest decision I had to make recently was to get Eva the swine flu vaccine or not. In the beginning I decided not to and felt great about it. It was constantly debated around me but I never entered the debate or gathered information. My pediatrician told me it was safe [...]

stupidly enough…

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

I have decided to train for another marathon.
It is in December.
I am going to attempt to qualify for Boston.
I am just going to start my training now.
I do love to run and I do love a challenge.
That doesn’t make it less stupid though.
So if there is anyone out there who wants a running partner I [...]

picture update

We love leaves!

Sweet little owl!

I got this costume from the Martha Stewart Magazine.

I love Disneyland no matter how crazy it is.

The Great Buffalo Roundup on Antelope Island.
Apparently we have some pretty cool bison in Utah.
And they are bison and not buffalo, apparently.
I should have known that already and my dad would be very disappointed if [...]

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Eliminating High Fructose Corn Syrup is something I am really passionate about.
I studied it a little in school and have since made the effort of eliminating it from my diet and trying to educate those in my life about the dangers of it.
Check out the labels on the food you eat.  It is almost in [...]

Expectations

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

The expectations I have for myself and others have become a mountain of disappointment.  I am so tired, tired, tired.
Tired of the disappointment.
Tired of the waiting.
Tired of the depressed silence that comes from the failed expectation.

If I could eliminate expectation from my life that would be great.  I might live and love more freely. [...]
