i think i should start training for my marathon
Friday, August 21st, 2009I am running a MARATHON in October and I have ran one time this week! Not good.
This is bad. I have been looking forward to this for almost 2 years and since I am the ultimate procrastinator I am, of course, not ready. I wanted to qualify for the Boston Marathon and I need to break it to myself that it won’t happen. I just don’t know how to do it.
I love running………once I get started.
To get started is hard. It is a serious mental battle for me to get dressed and get my shoes on but once I get out the door I am fine. Well……if you define fine as constantly battling to keep going and not cave to the voices in your head that tell you to walk. I don’t know why I love it but I do. It is the best feeling to finish running and feel high. I have a healthy body and you never know when that can be taken away so I need to keep going. I would hate one day to not to be able to run.
Running is me showing my gratitude to God for my healthy body.
I am trying to motivate myself.
It is working a little.
There is a free running class on Wednesday Tuesday at the Salt Lake Running Company store on Highland Drive. It is about Chi Running. If anyone wants more information let me know. I think it is going to be really good.

I wish I like running. I hate it. Like, a lot.
Oh man- there’s nothing like finishing a run and feeling so great! (Except an exercise class, hiking or whatever.) But running is just so accessible. Step right out your door and you’re there. Love it. It’s hard to find someone with the same gumption as you- but maybe you could ask around and find a neighbor who will meet you every day. Wish I lived closer so we could run! Aren’t you just up the road???
P.S. I pray a lot when I run too. Mostly thankful prayers. So I love your quote.
uggh. this is the story of my summer. thankfully i’m not doing a marathon this year, but i have a half marathon in september and i’m averaging 2 runs a week. pathetic. we should be best friends that procrastinate together.
The Chi Running Clinic is on Tuesday . Hope to see you there! Salt Lake Running Company
I feel your pain.
