My Amazing Eye for Design & Photography
Sunday, June 7th, 2009You should also check it out.
It is really cute and creative and if you do check it out this post will be more comical from the writing on down to the photography.
(By the way, one of her baby blankets is the same print as my sheet which means I have something going for my nursery.)
So looking at her very cute and creative nursery got me thinking about my own nursery. I realize the whole nursery thing is a big deal especially with the first child but I never really got into it.
(I also had a very small budget……………… which was no budget.)
Before I had Eva and even now people ask me what color my nursery is or what the theme is.
“Ummmm…..white and my theme is no theme.”
I know very boring. To answer people this way is sad because I can see I have let them down and I have also basically ended our conversation in one fell swoop.
If I got paid to blog I would have the cutest nursery on earth and I would also have the time to make my blog way better than this crap.
(You will just have to imagine the amazing things you are missing.)
So I have included pictures for your eyes to feast on.
Here is what a nursery looks like at the cost of $200.
(That was the cost of the crib and dresser; everything else was generously given to me.)
(Please excuse the photography; I realize if I could take a good photograph it might actually make the space look much better. I’ll keep practicing.)
The mobile. This is the mobile me and my siblings all had when we were little. Eva loves it. It is a wind up and plays lullaby. When it stops she starts to fuss to let me know to wind it up again.
(Oh my gosh these pictures hurt my eyes to look at they are so bad!)
The rocking chair my sister-in-law Michelle gave me.The quilt over it was made by my great grandma. The material is from her old dresses.
The dresser/changing table. To the side of it is a homemade diaper genie or garbage can, whichever you prefer.
The only thing hung on the bare white walls is this cute thing my sister Natalie made for Eva.She has two boys so she said she made it as girly as she could.
The room as a whole. The cute little doll on the bed is Auntie Made named because her Auntie Michelle made it. She makes dolls for her little girls and those dolls are named Mommy Made so Eva’s doll is Auntie Made. The other dolls on the nightstand are covering some of Clint’s old shirts that he stored there since he doesn’t wear them but won’t throw them away. Why???
And last of all:The stuff I moved to make the room look a little cuter and cleaner.
It is a happy little room though and full of tons of love.
I love you little Sugar Bean.
Someday much too soon you will be telling me which color of paint you want your walls to be.

Lol! Love the humor in this post. You're right, it's fun to decorate nurseries, but it does require some extra moolah. But, it's better to settle for what you can do than spend more than you can afford. B and I were just saying last night how it sucks that so many people are losing their homes and jobs…and how we're so grateful for our modest (but steady) income and our little apartment and we're glad we're not in over our heads.
I love the sheets! Also.. you can paint the room with safe paint, which is AMAZING to work with. It's called Mythic Paint. See here… http://www.mythicpaint.com/ You can buy it at Ace Hardware and have it mixed in any color you want. It's beautiful and doesn't smell at all.
I think your nursery is on its way to adorable.
T
I think you're nursery looks great. Especially that cute little Auntie Made. (what's wrong with her legs?)
Well Belen will be turning 4 this year and I am still working on her room! Eva's little corner of the world is so cute and filled with lovely homemade things from everyone that loves her. I saw it and think it's cute. And what's more impressive was the budget you did it in!
Where is her quilt that Sarah made? I love great-grandma's quilt, I can't wait to put mine in Lauren's room when we get going on it. All she has right now is a closet in her future room.
No body has money for that first baby, and the ones that have cute nurseries are in debt or grandma bought everything. At least yours is clean… with a hubby that mops. SWEEEEET.
