Taking Chance

I just happened upon a movie called Taking Chance on HBO. I was surprised and got totally sucked in. It is the perfect movie for Memorial Day and I highly recommend it. This was at this year’s Sundance Film Festival so maybe I am the only one who hadn’t heard of it until now.

Here is the synopsis (from the HBO website)
“‘Taking Chance’ chronicles one of the silent, virtually unseen journeys that takes place every day across the country, bearing witness to the fallen and all those who, literally and figuratively, carry them home. A uniquely non-political film about the war in Iraq, the film pays tribute to all of the men and women who have given their lives in military service as well as their families.”

The really wonderful thing is that it is a true story and it was not over dramatized to make it a good movie. I had no idea that any of it went on and I found it very interesting and at times I was crying. It is only an hour and a half and it will be on HBO again on Monday at 7 pm for any of you who have HBO. If you can rent it, do. This movie will help you remember why we have a Memorial Day.

Happy Memorial Day.
