Saving the Earth

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I am feeling very Mother Teresa-esk and I am expecting a call from Leo (Dicaprio) any day now begging me to marry him because I love the earth so much.

I am showing my love to the earth by taking the bus and trax to work. It puts on an extra 30 minutes but it does save me gas money and now I can read on my way to work which I like to do. The bus picks me up right in front of my house so I don’t have to walk at all because heaven forbid I actually exercise.

My bus adventures so far include:

  • getting yelled at by a bus driver because I tried to bring a piece of toast on the bus with me and then asking me if I new how much it actually cost to ride the bus (I think he could tell I was a newbie)
  • sitting near a guy who was talking on his phone and yelling the ‘F’ word every few words
  • watching a white gangsta on trax dance to his ipod music
  • watching a dog get hit by another car
  • sitting next to a women that smelled so bad of nicotine that by the time she got up to leave I was addicted and craved her presence after she had gone

Now these adventures sound like I am a bus veteran but I have actually only ridden the bus for 2 and a half days now. With this short amount of time packed with so much adventure why would I ever drive myself again??

  1. Wow, my saving Africa doesn’t nearly compare to you saving the earth! I would actually take the bus, if one came near my work. I would have to walk about 2 blocks! I can’t do that! Salt Lake needs a better public transportation system, dammit!

  2. You know I thought the sky looked much clearer today. Thanks for your efforts, Tammy. Leo and I owe you big time.

  3. That is great! I love your description of the lady smelling of nicotine. Very funny!!! :) Keep up the good work. You shall be rewarded someday.

  4. You are truly a saint. Saint Tammy..But on a serious note, it’s little things like that, that will add up in the long run. You go girl.

  5. Who knew riding the bus would be such an adventure. I’m sure you will have plenty more stories after a few weeks of riding. I used to take trax home from work and read and I must say it was a great way to wind down after work instead of sitting in rush hour traffic getting frustrated.

  6. I’ll send you a package of nicotine patches right away!

You will have great things to post because of this new bus adventure you are undertaking….I feel it!

    Miss you!
    Melissa

  7. good job Tammy. You deserve some kind of award.

  8. I enjoyed your comment on seriously so blessed about Daybreak being the true Zion. Just thought I would share. It made me giggle.
