Very Stinky
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008So we have finally moved into our new apartment and to my great disappointment it is stinky. When we first saw the apartment it just smelled like old apartment smell which is fine because it goes away once you live in it. Then last weekend we moved a few things and one of those things was a bag of potatoes which I put in my new pantry. The potatoes of course rotted over the weekend and I can’t get rid of the rotten potato smell. I have tried everything I can think of. Then we moved all our boxes from an old shed and there is a weird rotten smell to them. And finally my bathroom smells like poo water. That is the worst for me.
So trying to be optimistic I went to the store for some cleaning supplies. I got the baking soda carpet deodorizer with a mountain rain scent. I spread this all over my bathroom floor and let it deodorize. Of course I hate the mountain rain smell, it is way too strong and fake smelling. I vacuumed it up and mopped the floor but now my bathroom smells like poo water and mountain rain. I threw away the rest of the deodorizer but now it is stuck in my vacuum so every time I vacuum I smell that stupid mountain rain and I swear a little poo water mixed in. I just hope my clothes haven’t taken on the smell. If they have please don’t tell me you smell it, it will devastate me and I will most likely fall to my knees in defeat and sob.
So my main focus is just to get rid of the smells. I am scrubbing everything and washing everything. It sucks. No one is invited to my new place.

you crack me up! nothing is worse than poo water smell!
Poor Tammy. When I lived in California… I lived THE Travel Trailer from Hell! It had that septic tank thing that they hooked up to a pipe in the ground, but it would always get backed up and I would smell this horrible sewage smell from where I slept. I used this natural lime spray and now every time I smell that scent, I think of poop. So, if anyone wants to get natural room spray for the women’s bathroom.. please avoid the lime smell or I’ll lose it. I can sympathize with you. I also had to deal with the stench of rotting dead mice for over a week, before I found their decomposing corpses. It was literally hell on wheels.
I feel for you. Hope it gets better.
Aww..I’m sorry. I hope the poo smell goes away. There is nothing worse than that smell, especially when you try masking the smell of it, but it still won’t go away. So then you smell poo water mixed with whatever scent. But if I did come over, I would not judge you because of the poo scent.
That sucks. I have lived in a stinky apartment before. Somedays it wasn’t so bad and I thought maybe I had cleaned enough or that somehow the problem had been fixed, but then it would get hot or something, and yup, still stunk.
I want to come over! If you let me I’ll bring some vinegar and bleach and help you clean.
Sorry Tammy! I am sure you will make any place you live in smell good. I still want to come visit!
Smells are the worst. I loved the end of the post though – I just laughed “It sucks. No one is invited to my new place.”
I have some smell issues too but I think you should try Oust and Febreeze. Good Luck!
I just checked into a new apartment and it STINKS bad. Inside the cupboards and down in the storage room mainly. Smells like rotted ass if you ask me. I dont even wanna move my stuff in! I am so miserable that I looked up how to rid of stinky apartment smells online and found this post. Old apartments of course smell old but stink like death… NO WAY! When I leave the apartment I even smell like the nasty thing. I need to go buy some bleach & Vinegar now and have a good long cry.
